New Hampshire Train Ride

After the epic one day road trip from Western upstate New York, across Vermont, to the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, we had settled into our rental for the next two nights and were ready to explore New Hampshire. The state has long been on our list of possible places to land after we’re done moving around the country for my husband’s job, and we all quickly fell in love with NH. Real mountains, lakes, 4 seasons, proximity to the coast, easy access to major cities such as Boston and New York… needless to say, New Hampshire did not move down the list of “maybes.” The kids love to daydream about our someday small farm (with chickens, goats, horses, maybe a cow or two, and I’ve been told recently that an alpaca needs to be added to the list…) and now often say “when we live in New Hampshire…” We’ll see, but it is wonderful to have dreams!

All of the kids, and the youngest in particular, love trains. So, when I read that there was a sight-seeing train that left from a station less than a mile from our rental it was immediately added to our itinerary. Everyone enjoyed the balloon animals that the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad provided, as well as the lovely views of the lake.
