Hanging in there with the self portrait project over on Instagram, #portraitsofme! In February, I included kids in my weekly shots a few times, which can by tricky (securing cooperation!) but always results in images that I treasure. These boys seem to grow and change overnight. I want to remember how they feel, settled into my arms, long after they are too big for my lap. Committing to self portrait work helps to fulfill that desire.
Great capture of skin tones with the bright light coming from the window. Did you use a light meter?
Thank you, Janet! I don’t use an external light meter for digital work, which these images are. When shooting medium format film, or an unreliable 35mm, I do use a light meter instead of gambling on an iffy internal meter.
