Building a (sand) Fort

You never know what you’ll end up with, in terms of weather, on the Oregon coast. It could be early spring- sunny and lightly breezy, or it could be the middle of the summer- chilly and windy. Luckily, most of the time we spent at Lincoln City was beautiful. Highs in the 70s, with lots of sunshine. On the evening these pictures were taken, the entire family participated in the building of a sand fort. As you can see, it was sunny and breezy. But what you can’t see is that it was cool (for those of us used to the Mediterranean climate!) and windy enough to provide us with a complimentary sand exfoliation on any exposed skin. The big kids were troopers, though, and we built a fort that withstood over an hour of the tide repeatedly crashing into the fortifications. Sometimes it just feels good to play like a kid.
