Our last day in Rome was left open and unscheduled. We ended up visiting the Pantheon right after breakfast. I only brought my 50mm on this outing and that didn’t allow me to adequately capture the grandeur of the dome. It is amazing what humans were able to accomplish centuries ago! The kiddos enjoyed a
Looking down the courtyard of the Vatican Museum towards the dome of St. Peter’s. Amazingly, the museum buildings extend that entire distance. It is a long walk! Hanging out a window, trying to catch a breeze while looking out over the beauty of Rome. Shortly before the Sistine Chapel are the Raphael rooms. The detail

Some of the ruins in the Forum. Such a good little tour participant. The architectural achievements of the Colosseum are amazing… as is the savagery that was displayed there. Trying to get a short break from the brutal Roman sun. Almost 100F that day. But, gelato solves most problems!

Checking out the safety information. Shuttered windows are my new favorite. What a great way to control light! Piazza Navona… Street vendors are everywhere in Roma. Fontana del Moro Stepping up to ‘hug’ one of the pillars at the Pantheon. Someday this image will mean something to him ;)
11 months. I’m pretty sure that it’s impossible for him to be this old! This past month he has started saying Mama (and sometimes, Dada) purposefully and is starting to show interest in standing independently and walking. That toddler stage is right around the corner.
Yes, it is almost the end of the school year, but today was the first day of school for this guy! He was thrilled to go and super happy that I pulled out his backpack. His school is run by the loveliest Sicilian ladies and he will learn Italian (and have home cooked Italian lunches!

They worked on this project together, for about 2 hours, with very few- if any- arguments. It’s been a bit contentious around here, lately, so this activity and their cooperation was a high point in our week. I think they will end up as very good friends… it will just take some perseverance to get
We receive Kiwi Crates as a gift from one thoughtful set of Grandparents. They are a gift for the middle kiddo, but he is usually happy to share the fun activities with his older brother. This time, they were working on creating postcards with oil pastels and watercolors.
The first T-ball game. This post is strictly for family members and others who don’t mind that I’m a sports photography novice. I imagine in a few years, with 3 boys involved in sports, I’ll be an old hand at these types of image opportunities and light/framing challenges. ;)
First Tball practice for this set of 5 and 6 year olds. Oh my goodness. It was awesome. Look at the effort in that toss! :) Suggesting “Super Sox” for the team name. While I’m a little afraid of the way organized sports might take over my life as a mom of 3 boys, the
I’ve been meaning to take these pictures for 7 years, now. During each of the boys’s first years, this outfit has hung in their closet, waiting for me to pull it out and take the heirloom photos I’ve been meaning to capture. My brother wore this outfit at my Aunt and Uncle’s wedding about 30

This easter season introduced us to the magic that is Kindereggs. These hollow chocolate eggs with a treat inside are banned in the US because the toys they contain are tiny and, quite honestly, a real choking hazard for the under 3 crowd. However, here in Europe, we can handle that! :) You can find
Late afternoon is sometimes a slightly volatile time. You might get smiles or you might find sulkiness if you stop by our house.
Last weekend the Naval Base hosted a Cinquecento car show. I’ve never seen so many tiny little cars gathered in one place!
I decided to capture a normal day in our lives. However, this turned out to be a ‘semi-normal’ day, as my husband was home most of the morning and then went into work from the afternoon through late night hours. Mornings always start with the littlest guy waking up hungry. After he eats, or sometimes

Marsaxlokk is a fishing village located in the Southeastern region of Malta. We signed up for a tour to take us to the weekly Sunday market near the docks and the second portion of the tour was to take us out for a boat ride to the Blue Grotto. The colorful boats, called ‘Luzzi,’ above
