Do you have a fond donut related memory from your childhood? Mine is Donut World, in Gresham, Oregon. For several years, my family would visit with another family, every Sunday after church. We got to choose one donut, each, and I can still remember the contour of the brightly colored laminate benches, the often experienced cloud of powdered sugar all over my fingers, face and clothes and the wait in line that regularly extended out the door.

While we were in Oregon over Christmas break, our kids had their first introduction to Donut World. And a reintroduction to Maple Bars (there is no such thing, in Italy!) The donuts were every bit as good as I remembered.

YUM! Now that I can eat wheat again, my mouth started watering when I opened this post!
